Mac Repairs in Sydney Apple Mac Technicians Sydney Parramatta
Today and one day last week I’ve been doing search engine optimisation for Mac Manager, a company which specialises in helping people with Mac problems in the greater Sydney metropolitan area by arriving on-site in the Mac owners’ homes or offices to fix the problem.
Mac Manager already rated very high on Google for phrases such as “Mac repairs Sydney” and Mac technician Sydney” but rating high is not necessarily a good reason to rest on your laurels. The directors of Mac Manager are (fortunately for me) bright enough to know that maybe they hadn’t covered every single useful search phrase that relates to their business.
Indeed just simply adding an “s” to the word “technician” when searching for “Mac technicians Sydney” dropped them down to #13 on Google where their About Us page shows up rather than their home-page or the page that itemises their services and costs.
Also you have to wonder about what people type into Google in a Mac-created crisis. Do people retain their high-brow edge, or do they type in something like “fix my Mac Sydney”?
The result was two days of fine-tuning (rather than the wholesale SEOing most of my clients require), but the main addition to the website’s SEO was not on the website itself, but rather the creation of two articles which link in heavily to the Mac Manager website.
These articles are:
Apple Mac Technicians in Sydney
… Other interesting pages on the Mac Manager site which were sharpened are the Helpful Hints for Mac Users page and the page on Mac memory and hard drive upgrades.
Additional services that Mac Manager want to rate higher for is Mac training and tuition in Sydney even being as specific as considering creating pages about, for example, iMovie training / tuition in the Sydney metropolitan area.
Plans were also implemented for new pages such as Mac Data Recovery in Sydney and also a more in-depth guide to places that the Mac technicians can visit such as Hornsby, Baulkham Hills, North Ryde, Surry Hills, Parramatta, Penrith and even Springwood.
It was great fun working in Mac Manager’s office, we drank fab coffee together and had pancakes for lunch. While many of my SEO clients are interstate, I relish the opportunity to work face-to-face with Sydney clients to brainstorm and work in flow together.
What was also great is that Mac Manager’s new SEO-influenced results happened within 1 day of our 2nd session, and so their director Stuart Snow provided this testimonial:
“I’m stoked about “mac repairs sydney” getting #1 up from #7….. that’s incredible! That group of 3 keywords is my absolutely MOST important one out of ALL of them. And this is on google.com! google.com.au gets me the top TWO spots! Even slight variations such as mac repair sydney, apple mac repairs sydney, apple repairs sydney, repair mac sydney, and so on I come up either second, or in most cases first on google.com! I was coming up well the other day, but this is superb now. It’s only been 24 hours! I thought you were good, but daymm! Thanks again for all your work … I can see it’s going to be worth every dollar.”

SEO Fear and Loathing: Twitter Widgets and the New Frontiers
How Twitter will help you Navigate the Unfathomable Depths of Humanity & Its Modern Marketing Mindset
Today we added a Twitter Widget into many pages of our Sydneycafes.com.au website, including the right-hand column of the home-page – that right-hand placement is about as strong a statement of intent as you can get.
That seemed good going considering I only joined Twitter two days ago: our Twitter profile is http://twitter.com/sydneycafes
But why not? Check it out – it adds such immediacy to the page – and of course each Tweet refers to links back to our website. Through the website bit.ly we were able to see that 1 tweet attracted eight click throughs in its first 30 seconds. I was dancing in the lounge – for a few seconds anyway … until someone leveled me out with a disparaging comment.
We also placed it in other prime spots like the Cafe News page etc etc
Sadly I couldn’t work out how to upload it in all its living moving glory here, so we’re stuck with the frozen version above
However the benefit of placing this Twitter Widget all over our Sydneycafes website is that it will automatically get seen by our 1000+ daily unique users – so this widget has a potent monopoly on our pages. So that’s why we particularly like Twitter at the moment, after all of two days of being on it.
More About Twitter
As one SEO blogger, Dustin Williams states:
Twitter can be used to post quick announcements relating to products or services that you offer to people who may become potential customers or clients. It is this marketing opportunity that is drawing many businesses to Twitter. Unfortunately spammers are catching on to this and Twitter is drawing many spammers posting scams and get rich quick schemes on Twitter.
He goes on to say:
have noticed a pattern that spammers have been using on twitter. Here are some to watch out for…
- They use the name of someone who is well known and just add an underscore to the front or end of the name. Some examples are _randfish or bhartzer_.
- They have only one tweet and it is always about their scheme that they want you to check out.
- They have a very brief, non-descriptive biography or no biography.
- They will be following close to 2,000 people while having very few followers.
Another page worth reading, Stop Twitter Spam, in part says:
To make sure you’re not spamming folks, we also suggest you avoid the following:
- Posting duplicate updates to an account: Posting the same update over and over throughout the day is considered spammy and a possible violation of our terms of service.
- Cross-posting duplicate updates to multiple accounts: If you post the same update to multiple accounts, you could violate our terms of service.
- Following churn: Following and unfollowing the same people repeatedly, as well as following and unfollowing those who don’t follow back, are both violations of our terms of service.
Tip: Think you’ve encountered a spammer? Let us know, and we’ll look into the account. You can alert us to spam profiles by sending a direct message to @spam! In addition, you can block the spammer by heading to their account page, and on the right side, clicking the block link (they won’t know you’ve blocked them).
In other news we added a new page to our site today: http://www.sydneycafes.com.au/marrickvillefestivalsydney.html

Search Engine Optimisation & Youtube Videos SEO
Hello again my little chickens!!
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZA3eJuAJ8E]
There are a number of ways you can get your website receiving 1000 unique users per day.
And I can get you there – as I have 3 personal websites that each get over 1000 unique users per day.
Do you want to start on that journey?
If the answer needs to be yes, then email me: media@seotherapy.com.au
Search Engine Optimisation can be a boring subject, but I like to believe I’m making it sexy. Even if it’s not making me sexy.
In fact the whole process is probably depleting my mojo.
So if you want to become an online guru like me: my clients call me various things like “The Optimiser” and the “SEO guru” – behind my back they probably just call me a dickhead – then join me in my quest.
And hey, whatever they call me behind my back, they’re still my clients – and would never leave me – they want me in their virtual world forever.
I have a lot to say about SEO and Youtube Videos – and you may wish to hear it. So book me for 1 day of your time – cost is just $350 per day AUS.
I’m booked out until mid-November but we can find the time to change your world – and stop your website being a nothing on the cyber-world to nowhere.
I may just be a peasant toiling the lands of the great aristocrat Google – but I toil those lands good and well.
Signing off (a massive storm is brewing – gotta go enjoy it),

SEO URGENT WARNING: SEO End Days Australia Sydney Melbourne Brisbane
Re: SEO URGENT WARNING: SEO End Days Australia Sydney Melbourne Brisbane
[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cQHHR2FgRA]
The end of the world is nigh!! People have been saying it for centuries, but the fact is, the SEO world really is coming to an end.
I’m speaking from an Australian perspective, because here we’re about 2 years behind the USA, and over there SEO has reached saturation.
What that means is that with tens of thousands of SEO specialists riding the opportunity to get clients improved free/organic search results on Google, Yahoo, Bing, MSN etc, the possibilties are shrunk. Search for a plumber in Chicago and there will now be dozens of Search Engine Optimised pages showing up highest in the rankings, which means it’s pretty much too late to get in the first 4 or 5 pages, let alone the top 7 listings on the all-important first page!!!!
Here in Australia, that hasn’t happened yet. I spoke to a new client today who has had a great cafe / catering / function venue for 5 years, and his website is pretty cute/sexy. But …. it’s built in Flash, which Google doesn’t read – it’s not been SEO-ed, and he’s clearly never given the idea any thought. Of course I made the fatal mistake of telling him what he needs to do and so he’s passing on my email to his web designer, who got it all wrong in the first place.
Anyway I wasn’t chasing him for SEO, he was signing up to have 12 Linked Listings on my website Sydneycafes.com.au which is ranked #1 on ALL search engines for “cafes in Sydney”, “bars in Sydney” and “nightclubs in Sydney”. So he was doing a smart thing because relevant links are extremely important – and to have 12 of them from a very high traffic website like Sydneycafes.com.au is well worth a small annual fee – and I was happy to make the acquaintance – who knows maybe he’ll wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat and call me – an SEO-booty-call.
If you want to get onboard with me for SEO or doing an SEO-friendly stuff like being on the Sydneycafes website (if you’re a caterer / cafe / bar / restaurant / hospitality supplier etc) then email me, Stewart Dawes, via: media@seotherapy.com.au or media@sydneycafes.com.au
SEO Testimonials Sydney Melbourne Australia
Got my first testimonial today – I really should chase up more of these:
“Stewart is someone who works WITH a client rather than talking AT a client. Our previous experience of pimply young whizkids was that they told us what we needed for SEO rather than talking with us about viable outcomes. Stewart is a businessman who understands business and SEO. I’m very grateful for his great work in getting us ‘up there’.” – Ian Hamilton, Director: Alkaway: http://www.alkaway.com.au
Thanks Ian!! Meanwhile, I sent out an email to a selection of hospitality contacts last night, which forewarns the end of the SEO world:
“If you require SEO for your website/s and videos, don’t leave it too long! SEO is in full swing across the world and it’s very reasonable to suggest that if you don’t get your website SEO-ed in the next 3-6 months, there will be no chance of you getting on the first page, and probably no chance of getting on the 2nd page either. If you already got it done and it’s ranking very highly, congratulations, smart move.
Because contrary to the myths about Google and other search engines changing their algorhythms, my hobby website Sydneycafes.com.au has been #1 on Google for the search phrase “cafes in Sydney” for the entire 10 years of our website, and #1 for “bars in Sydney” for the last 8 years. For the search phrase “nightclubs in Sydney”? - also #1, for the last 5 years. So rankings tend to be a lot more consistent and entrenched than search engines want you to believe.
So if you need it, do something about your SEO right now!!”
I think that’s about right! While I still have a lot to give that’s valuable right now, in 18 months I better be doing something else for a crust.
Also today I launched a Twitter profile for one of my clients – it’s @THAcollege – the Health Arts College.
I’d avoided Twitter because I figured I’m online often enough, however I can see its merits after fluffing around on it for a couple of hours. Am I gonna set my own account up on it? Not tonight, Josephine.
The other thing I’ve been doing this week is putting videos on Youtube and search engine optimising them. I’ve done about 60 videos in the last 9 days – if you’re interested in getting this aspect of your business going, one thing I’d pretty much forgotten(!) is that I have a film and television degree and worked as a cameraman for Skychannel and ABC TV for 5 years!! Distant past now, but suddenly seems appealing that through applying SEO to Youtube, out of the blue I’m filming things again. No longer just photography, writing and marketing all the time. Nice one, life.
If you want to discuss SEO for your business, email me via media@seotherapy.com.au
- Stewart Dawes.
PS: Here’s a wacky little video I shot on my mobile phone on Saturday night and SEO-ed for the fun of it – turn the sound down on your computer before clicking as it’s a bit noisy!!

French Cafes Restaurants Sydney Crepes Creperies Eiffel Tower Paris Patisseries
Re: French Cafes Restaurants Sydney Crepes Creperies Eiffel Tower Paris Patisseries
Ah those French. Even if their Eiffels are made from cardboard, we still love them.
In fact I want one of those cardboard Eiffels.
The above photo I snapped “yesterday” at the Fine Food Expo.
It reminded me of how only the weekend before, I took my 3-year-old son Jett to the Eiffel Tower website, where we printed out some puzzle images that we were able to put together into a little paper Eiffel Tower – it’s still there, sticky-taped to the bathroom wall, next to the toilette.
The following weekend, as we drove past a church, Jett noticed the steeple and suddenly exclaimed, “Dad, look: the Eiffel Tower!!!”.
How cute is that? If you don’t think that’s cute, you’re already dead-to-cute. Your cuteness does not have a pulse.
Anyway, at the Fine Food Expo, I stumbled across this Taste-of-Francoise stall. The reason I say that, is that my friend who happened to be visiting that stall, is Francoise whose business is the Tomatis Method Australia – a holistic methodology that France’s greatest actor, Gerard Depardieu, endorses.
I commented that I wanted one of those cardboard Eiffel Towers, as I think Jett would LOVE it … but no-one was listening. Which is ironic, considering that the Tomatis Method is all about training the auditory system. Maybe Francoise should talk to the people on the stand about training their ears … but they probably won’t listen to her either.
But they were lovely people, truly!! I love the French …

Cafes in Sydney Best Cafes in Sydney Bars in Sydney Bondi Paddington Kings Cross
Re: Cafes in Sydney Best Cafes in Sydney Bars in Sydney Bondi Paddington Kings Cross
One of the starkest realities of search engines (even though it’s been a boon for me) is that longevity is rewarded and therefore is part of the innate predictability / conservatism of our biggest-ever one world government, Google.
Our website Sydneycafes.com.au has been number 1 for the search string “cafes in sydney” for a decade now – an unbroken tyranny. Thanks Uncle Googs.
If you’re looking for SEO / search engine optimisation for your website, after ten years at the “top” (it was a fortuitous accident for the first 5 years!), I’m able to take on about 2 more clients – after that, booked out until 2010: Stewart: media@seotherapy.com.au or media@sydneycafes.com.au
